Mendeley and MS word ActiveX conflict 429

Recently I bumped into a strange error

when trying to cite a paper for my proposal. Mendeley and MS word 2013 denied me any possible scenario to  do that. As if there was a huge fight between the two friends. Ultimately I searched the mendeley forums where a solution was posted by a life saver. After downloading and running the script, the pain and misery of looking at the two, Mendeley and Word document were gone and the friendship between them was finally restored. The problem showed up because both were run with admin privileges.
I hope this might help you guys someday.

    6. Don't use administrator/Admin login for Mendeley software installation. alternatively use any other user like Guest or other User with out admin rights. Active X, error 429 problem solved.

  2. Hello! I'm having the same issues.

Everytime I click on any button of the Mendeley Cite-o-Matic section of the Word the 429 error happens.

I tried every single troubleshooting step and it didn't work.

I'm using Mendeley 1.19, Word 2013 and Windows 10. Can anybody help me?

Plus, can anybody share the script that he said it worked?

  3. I don't know what witchery you did here, but this worked for me while NOTHING ELSE DID! I tried installing many older Mendeley versions, installing and reinstalling the plugin, rebooting the PC, trying with and without admin rights, but you made it, buddy. Double-clicking 'MendeleyWordPlugin.exe' was the key. I'm using Mendeley 1.19.

    1. Go to Tools in the Mendeley desktop > uninstall MS word plugin > Install MS word plugin.
      It'll work perfectly.

    2. Actually it does not. Nor did any of the steps above solve the issue on Win10 x64 Word 2016 and latest Mendeley.

    4. Muchas gracias, a mi me funcionó perfectamente en un documento nuevo, en el documento que estaba trabajando tuve que borrar todos los títulos que tenía como campo, los que tenía para las tablas y el índice. Los volví a digitar y ahí si funcionó bien.

    5. Same here. None of the above works. I tried dozens of combinations of uninstalling plugin and reinstalling via MendeleyDesktop with or without admin rights, running word with/without admin rights, running MendeleyWordPlugin.exe with or without admin rights, with or without prior uninstalation of word plugin via MendeleyDesktop and.... NONE OF THIS WORKS...

    6. Solution, the reason this happens is when you activate the hyper-v, is a port conflict.

  10. I've been having this error for years now, and it's unbelievable that it has never been fixed. For me, double clicking the MendeleyWordPlugin in the Mendeley folder also worked.

  14. This did not work for me initially. I think it was mainly because Mendeley and my Word still did not talk with each other even I manually added the PlugIn. Then I repaired my Office and it reinstalled the latest version. Then I deleted the PlugIn in word. This time Mendeley was able to find Word and the PlugIn works great.

  15. just simply uninstall "MS work plugin" and reinstall it. It will take hardly few minutes. This has to be done in "Mendeley Desktop" under the option tools- "uninstall MS work plugin"

  16. In my case I fixed reregistring the the "MendeleyWordPlugin" in the windows register.
To do that you have to use "command prompt".
    1- Digite "cmd" in programs.
2- Go to the mendeley folder. In my case is in "c:\Program Files (x86)\Mendeley Desktop\"
For change folder tou can use "cd + name of the folder". To back digite "cd .." If you have doubts google "usual DOS commands".
3- After you are in the mendeley folder digite "MendeleyWordPlugin.exe /regserver"
This command will register your "MendeleyWordPlugin.exe" in the windows register.
I've found this information in this site:
